ADHESIVE SMALL INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION: EPIDEMIOLOGY, CLASSIFICATION, PREVENTION

The article discusses the problem of adhesive small intestinal obstruction (ASIO): epidemiology, classification and prevention. Several classifications have been described, on the basis of which not only the severity is determined, but also the peritoneal adhesion index is determined, which determines the strength of adhesions and stratification of the risk of the need for surgical intervention. Despite the fact that many specialists all over the world are working on the problem of combating the formation of adhesions and the development of adhesive small bowel obstruction, the question remains open, relevant and requires further study.
